17:1 You must not sacrifice to him ¹  a bull or sheep that has a blemish or any other defect, because that is considered offensive ²  to the Lord your God.

18:3 This shall be the priests’ fair allotment ³  from the people who offer sacrifices, whether bull or sheep – they must give to the priest the shoulder, the jowls, and the stomach.

[22:1]  ⁴ tn Heb “you must not see,” but, if translated literally into English, the statement is misleading.

[22:1]  ⁵ tn Heb “brother’s” (also later in this verse). In this context it is not limited to one’s siblings, however; cf. NAB “your kinsman’s.”

[22:1]  ⁷ tn The Hebrew text uses the infinitive absolute for emphasis, which the translation indicates with the words “without fail.”
